Yesterday, I was having a casual discussion with a few colleagues of mine about the current affairs of our beloved country, and the only thing that intrigued me was the fact that they are more interested in the drama that our politics usually comes with, than the real issues.
Our country is facing a leadership crisis because of the poor choices we make as the electorate in choosing the people who are supposed to front our pressing issues to the concerned institutions.
The current drama in the National Unity Platform has really exposed us as a country. It is a clear indicator that the people we would wish to be leading this country, are not prepared or ready for the big job.
The panic that the principle of NUP Mr. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu showcased in handling the corruption allegations against Mpuuga clearly brought out the poor leadership and management gaps with in his party.
If a whole party president can get indulged in matters that a secretary general can easily handle, it means there is something bigger, away from what they (NUP Leadership) are trying to paint in the public eye.
Before he left the country to attend to his Oscar nomination, Kyagulanyi had turned into a blogger, a job that can easily be handled by anyone, in a party with active administrative structures.
I don’t know whether it is seeking relevancy or the party has no other business that their principle can engage in, but the truth is, the Mpuuga scandal was handled poorly and it really explains why Mpuuga came out as a frustrated party Vice President in Buganda.
To give you a few tips on administration and management, Kyagulanyi was supposed to come-out at the climax of this entire saga, after analyzing the opinions from the political elites and the public court. This would have saved him from the leadership shabbiness that is currently attached to his image and position as the party boss.
Inside The Corridors Of Parliament.
Right now, the speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Annet Among is among the few leaders that we should keep our eyes on, if we are talking about the future of our country’s politics.
It is alleged that Anita has plans of forming her own political party and that she has already secured billions of shillings to execute this task.
Her position as the speaker of Parliament has given her access to a lot of resources and money, to an extent that almost all members of Parliament run to her for financial rescue.
This means that she has most of these members of parliament under her control because of her strong financial muscle.
But one thing we should not forget is that she can’t have all this without the consent of General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
