Parliament Stays Mpuuga As The Commissioner : “You Don’t Have The Legal Mandate…..”

Yesterday the 25th of March 2024, Parliament replied to the request made by the National Unity Platform top leadership to recall Hon. Mpuuga from his position as the Commissioner of Parliament on allegations of corruption.

On 18th march, the party General Secretary wrote to parliament, informing them of the decision to replace Mpuuga with Hon. Zaake who had been impeached on issues of misconduct.

In response to their request, parliament has politely informed the party through their Secretary General that they lack the requisite legal mandate to recall a commissioner of parliament once elected by parliament.

This clearly means that Hon. Mpuuga will remain as the lawful Commissioner of Parliament amidst pressure from his party to resign from the said position.

Here is the full response from Parliament ;
