President Considers Nakalema for Clerk to Parliament Role

Reliable information reaching this News website from credible state house sources indicates the President is considering making his ruthless blue-eyed girl Col Edith Nakalema the new clerk to Parliament. Sources say that the president, who understandably must be disappointed with his longtime ally Adolf mwesige’s failure to decisively stand up to rogue-minded actors at the legislature ,is already conducting clandestine consultations on the suitability of giving Rev Eriasafu Sserwadda’s daughter the lucrative position.

Being clerk to Parliament is a powerful position because whoever holds the position also serves as the Accounting officer with the last word on the Legislature’s budget which is approximately shs 1trn.

Adolf mwesige, who actually publicly pleaded to the president for the job after failing retain the Bunyangabu Mp seat (was mp for 25 years), was made Clerk to Parliament three years ago and this was after he had personally written a public letter to the president imploring him to remember him (was M7 minister at AG’s chambers, Local Government Ministry and Defensel and atleast render him the chair of UHRC.

One of the most eminent legal brains Uganda has ever produced, mwesige had scouted around and considered UHRC, which ideally has to be headed by a lawyer, the most appropriate vacancy to ask for. The position had remained vacant since the 2020 death of Med Kaggwa. With the president publicly complaining about widespread financial impropriety at Parliament.
