What does it take for the Opposition in Uganda to win National elections?

With the relegation of traditional independence poltical parties, name it UPC, DP, CP, and the emergence of quasi military party, NRM, ascendancy to national leadership seems to be a nightmare to Presidential aspirants given the political terrain of the country.

Unless institutions are respected, patronage discarded, the national constitution respected and made to be ammended to term limits (untouchable), the national electoral commission streamlined to impartiality, rule of law to be observed, press freedom strengthened, the army is made to be a true national and people centred body.

The incumbent shall always play unfair game with the rules of the game and national resources shaping the electoral results. Uganda’s History book should be opened widely and read wisely as everybody knows how Paulo Muwanga, the Chairman Military Commission used such settings to grab Paulo Semogerere’s triumph victory over UPC, and UPM in the 1980s general elections.

The outcome was the chaos that forced the 27 warlords to go the jungles of Luwero Triangle for 5 years and later ushered in the current NRM govt into power till now. And from that scenario, the late Paulo Muwanga set precedent that the ruling regime cant be dislodged that easily.

No matter the noise, the  gravity of the Amasanyalaze, and the crowds one pulls, Election winning and rigging are like Twins, the incumbent uses the above to play a political chase game to his advamtage, and coming into power is decided not in board rooms but in the field playing rough.

The loser may call for VAR {constitutional court}, meaning legtimacy of the results is being put into question, besides that nothing happens after. Thence before Opposition party leaders scramble for the next Presidential elections, the NRM is doing its home work, and the rest are busy tearing one another selfishishly out of EGO.

What has the LOP done in Legislative assembly to redress such anomalies? Its all about Money, thats how greedy the Opposition leaders are, duping the public to remain relevant yet they are obsolete.

NUP, DP, UPC have all succumbed to this syndrome with their leaders caring about personal and family interests rather than national struggle to create change. For them they make, deals at night with tbe incumbent, and the next morning, they shout  nothings to apoease their followers in order to keep earning their daily bread
