By Cathy Mirembe

On March 25, 2025, the Uganda Cranes secured a thrilling 1-0 victory over Guinea, with Allan Okello scoring the winning goal. However, the excitement of the match was marred by the illicit activities of five individuals who were arrested and remanded to prison for selling counterfeit tickets to unsuspecting fans.

The suspects, identified as Kaga Ibrahim, Ssenkangu Ronald, Lubega Moses Mukiibi, Musasizi Stuart, and Bukenya Ephraim, appeared before the Rubaga/Nateete Magistrates Court, where they were ordered to remain in custody until April 16, 2025, pending further investigation and trial.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) had issued a warning to fans about the circulation of fake tickets, advising them to purchase tickets only from authorized vendors. Despite this warning, the five individuals took advantage of eager fans, selling them counterfeit tickets and depriving them of the opportunity to watch the match.

The arrest and remand of these individuals serve as a warning to those who engage in such illicit activities. It also highlights the need for fans to be vigilant and ensure that they purchase tickets from authorized sources.

The sale of fake tickets to the Uganda Cranes vs Guinea match is a unfortunate incident that marred an otherwise exciting match.
