TODAY IN HISTORY : NRA CAPTURES KAMPALA

38 years ago in 1986, The National Resistance Army finally captured Uganda’s Capital – Kampala, after 10 days of rigorous fighting with Uganda National Liberation Front. This war had started way back in 1981 after H.E Museveni complained that the election they had just completed wasn’t free and fair.

On this day 26th -January – 1986,the UNLA government was also disposed off and the NRA headed by Yoweri, took over State Power. The disposed government was headed by Tito Okello, who flew to Sudan by a helicopter after getting the sad news that the Republic House had been captured by the NRA forces. This was headquarter of the UNLA government.
