President Museveni to Commission 132KV Mirama-Kabale Power Line, Boosting Kigezi Region’s Economy

President Museveni is set to commission the 132KV Mirama-Kabale power transmission line and its associated substation in Rabanda District today.

This milestone event is part of the President’s three-day Parish Development Model (PDM) tour of the Kigezi sub-region and represents a crucial step in addressing the region’s long-standing power challenges.

Construction of the power line began in December 2020, and it was officially switched on on December 21, 2024, providing much-needed relief to the residents of the area.

The commissioning of the power line is expected to offer a lasting solution to the frequent power outages that have plagued the Kigezi sub-region, particularly Kabale District.

This initiative aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic growth in rural areas. The new power line is poised to support local businesses, improve quality of life, and stimulate economic activities in the region.
