President Museveni, Togo’s President Gnassingbé Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Security

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today hosted the President of the Republic of Togo, H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, at State Lodge, Nakasero, for a high-level meeting focused on matters of mutual interest.

The two leaders held extensive discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in addressing regional security challenges.

President Museveni emphasized the importance of unity among African nations, noting that collaboration is vital for effectively tackling security threats and advancing shared development goals.

Togo, a West African nation bordered by Ghana and Benin, has a population of approximately 9.5 million people. Its strategic location and growing regional influence make it a valuable partner in fostering continental stability and progress.

The meeting was also attended by several high-profile officials, including:

  • Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi, former Prime Minister of Uganda
  • Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries
  • Gen. Jeje Odongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Ambassador Joseph Ocwet, Director General of the External Security Organisation (ESO)
  • Mr. Robert Dussey, Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other members of the Togolese delegation.
