ROAD SAFTEY : Make Sure You Ride or Drive With Your Permit.

Early this week on Tuesday 19th – 2024, the Community Liaison Officer for the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety SP Micheal Kananura cautioned all drivers and riders to carry their valid riding and driving licences while driving on the roads of Kampala and other surrounding areas.

In accordance with Section 35 of the Traffic and Road Safety, amendment Act 2020, A person shall not drive any class of motor vehicle, trailer or engineering plant on a road unless he or she is in possession of a copy of a valid driving license or a copy of a valid learner driving license in respect of that motor vehicle, trailer or engineering plant.

The act is also clear on the punishments for any driver or rider with no valid driving licence. Under section 176 (1), any person who contravenes this part of this act commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding 300 currency points (6, 00, 000/=) or imprisonment not exceeding six months or both.

As tv10ganomazima.news, we encourage all road users to ensure their safety and that of others while using both public and private roads if we are to reduce the increased rate of road accidents on our roads.
