MUK GUILD: Lubega Takes It With A Difference Of Four Votes.

Yesterday, Makerere University Guild President Elections were held where Lubega Nsamba won narrowly with a difference of four votes.

The elections which were held online had 16 candidates but the competition was majorly between Ariho Edmond who got 2536 votes and Lubega Nsamba won with 2540 votes, a narrow victory with a difference of four votes.

Lubega who is associated with The National Unity Platform was declared yesterday evening by the Guild’s Electoral Commission and he officially became the University’s 90th Guild President.

Despite the Universty’s Electoral Commission restricting the candidates from using or associating with any political party during the campaigns, the political undertones were in among the students and it is even alleged that some political parties managed to finance some of the candidates who were affiliated to them.

Restricting political affiliations has increased the competition in these guild elections. This can be seen even in the previous elections where Robert Maseruka who got 2558 votes won his closest competitor Hillary Oremo with a difference of 27 votes. Congratulation Lubega.
