IS KYAGULANYI’S PRESIDENCY AT RISK? Why NUP May Lose In 2026.

The 2021 presidential election in Uganda saw incumbent Yoweri Museveni win with 58.64% of the vote, while opposition leader Bobi Wine also known as H.E Robert Kyagulanyi, come in second with 34.83% of the vote. Museveni garnered most of his support from the central and western regions, while Bobi Wine relied heavily on the votes from the Eastern region.

Despite his strong showing in the election, Bobi Wine’s chances of becoming President in the 2026 election are slim. The loss of lives, arrest of hundreds of supporters and their subsequent separation from their families have made many disillusioned with him. His failure to bail out those who were on his side has caused doubts and resentment among his supporters.

Additionally, the poor political structure of his party, internal conflicts and disunity among members have weakened Bobi Wine’s position. His violent political approach has resulted in the deaths of those close to him, such as his body guard Francis Senteza, further alienating potential supporters.

Furthermore, the disunity among the opposition itself has hindered Bobi Wine’s chances of success. With most of his support coming from the regions of Buganda and limited appeal in other parts of the Country, Bobi Wine faces an uphill battle to secure the Presidency in 2026. Keep your eyes peeled for bitter truths and don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comment section.

I really don’t know that much about politics but for sure I think him failing to bail out his supporters is kinda beyond his power n for the disunity in his party it’s kinda explained by the unfortunate fact that Ugandan politicians are known in many places for being greedy, hypocritical n aim at personal targets

There is a big task for Uganda’s opposition if Bobi Wine is to win the 2026 election he has a big task ahead of him which includes uniting the whole opposition and they all ascend him as their candidate secondly he has to reorganize his party and solve the conflicts with in his party thirdly there has to be country wide tours for him to go to different regions because most of his support is mostly in Central and he has to spread to other regions which I doubt the current regime can allow to happen otherwise his odds of winning in 2026 are very minimal.

There is something in life called “Social Capital (SC).”
SC is about the people you know; the  people who know you, and how they know you.
So H.E bobi wine is a father to many young generations.what do I mean. He always wins but it ends in tears.

I feel like before we all think about 2026 elections, it’s better we see what he( Bobi wine) is doing right now… Is he acting like someone who really wants to lead the Nation or just a player with a pile of fans supporting whatever he is doing regardless of its nature… We really need to change the mindset of fellow Ugandans especially the youth

About kyagulanyi he might be loosing many supporters to the advantage of the current government… But still he has his strong point wic is the government’s weakest point …. The bad roads, poor provision for social services as long as the pipo still have those grievances,… He stands a chance
