The Long Serving Presidents In Africa.

1.TEODORO OBIANG

He has served as the president of Equatorial Guinea for 44 years . He is the current and second president of Equatorial Guinea since August 1979. He rose to power in August 1979 through a military coup which ousted his uncle Francisco Macias Nguema.

2. PAUL BIYA

He has served as the president of Cameroon for 41 years since 6th November 1982 .He last won an election in 2018.

3.DENIS SASSOU NGUESSO

He has been the president of Congo for 39 years. He first served from 1979 to 1992 and returned in 1997 at the end of a civil war.

3.YOWERI MUSEVENI

He has been the president of Uganda for 37 years up to today .He rose to power in january 1986 after winning a war against president Milton Obote.

4. KING MSWATI 111

He has been the president and the same time the king of Eswatini [former Swaziland ] for 37 years up today. He is the head of Swazi royal family and was crowned as Mswati ,Ingwenyama and king of Swaziland on 25th april 1986 at the age of 18 years . He governs the country with help of his mother Ntombi Twala.

5. ISAIAS AFWERKI

He been the president of Eritrea for 30 years up today. He has been in charge since the country got her independence from Ethiopia in April 1993.

6.LETSIE 111

He has been the king and the same time the president of Lesotho for 27 years after he succeeded his father Moshoeshoe after his death in a car crash in 1996 .He was crowned as the king in October 1997 at Setsoto stadium and his coronation was attended by King Charles of England.

7.ISMAIL OMAR GUELLEH

He has been the president of Djibouti for 24 years up today since 1999. He was hand picked by his uncle in 1999 Hassan Gouled Aptidon who had ruled since independence in 1977 and later he was reelected in 2005 ,2011 and in 2016.

8. MOHAMMED VI

He is the king and the president of Morocco for 24 years.He ascended to the throne on 23 July 1999 after the death of his father King Hassan 11.

PAUL KAGAME

He has been the president of Rwanda for 23 years since 2000 up today. He announced that he is still interested in the post and he is willing to contest again come July 2024.
