Kawempe North Constituency By-Election: Nomination Process Begins

The Electoral Commission has commenced the nomination process for candidates vying for the Kawempe North constituency seat, left vacant following the passing of former MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.

In a surprising turn of events, two candidates from major political parties – Luwemba Lusswa Muhammed (National Unity Party) and Hanifa Karadi Murerwa (National Resistance Movement) – have defied their parties’ positions and registered as independent candidates, despite warnings of disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi, backed by the National Unity Party, and Faridah Nambi, representing the National Resistance Movement, have also been nominated. Nambi is the daughter of Hajj Moses Kigongo, National Vice Chairman of the National Resistance Movement.

The nomination process for Moses Nsereko and Kalifah Aganaga is currently on hold due to incomplete documentation, pending clarification.
