The National Peasants’ Party (NPP) has called on its party president, Hajjat Stecia Mayanja, to come forward and explain her recent appearance at a National Resistance Movement (NRM) event.
This follows public reports and widespread concern that Hajjat Stecia performed at the NRM presidential nomination rally held on Tuesday at Kololo Independence Grounds, in support of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s candidacy.

As a party that stands for the voice of ordinary Ugandans — especially farmers, workers, and the grassroots — the NPP takes these concerns seriously. Our members and supporters look to our leaders to reflect the values and direction of the party at all times. That’s why the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has asked Hajjat Stecia to meet with the Disciplinary Committee on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the party headquarters.
This meeting will give her the chance to explain what happened, clear the air, and help the party understand her side of the story. It’s important to stress that this is not a punishment, but part of a fair process to uphold transparency and accountability within the party.
As NPP, we know that in politics, things are not always black and white. But we owe it to our members — and the Ugandan people — to handle issues like this with openness and honesty.
We remain committed to building a strong, people-centred political movement. One that listens, questions, and grows — even when things are difficult. We ask our supporters to stay calm, stay informed, and trust the process
