Brigadier-General Charles Oluka, the Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has passed away. He had been battling heart complications, according to military sources, although the exact cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Oluka took over as Director General of ISO in October 2020, succeeding Col Frank Bagyenda who faced criticism over alleged concocted intelligence reports. His passing was confirmed by military sources, including Deputy Defence spokesperson Col Deo Akiiki.

Oluka is survived by his wife, Harriet Akisa, whom he married at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Madera-Soroti in 2023. He was a prominent figure in the military and his death is likely to be felt deeply within the organization.
