The Constitutional Court Okays The Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023.

Today the 3rd of April 2024, the Constitutional Court has rejected Andrew Mwenda’s request to nullify the Anti-Homosexuality Act, 2023.

A way from the decision by the court to okay the act, some clauses within the act have been well streamlined by the judgment.

The court has ruled that LGBTQI have a right to access health care services and it has also freed the landlords from being culpable incase they house people who are suspected to be gay.

The veteran Journalist (Andrew Mwenda) and other human rights activists have opposed the decision made by the constitutional court and they said that they will be going to the supreme court to challenge the constitutional court decision.

The act that was passed last year has some how affected Uganda since some big donors like World Bank pulled out the support that they were rendering to Uganda because of the death penalty that was attached to a person who is caught in the act of homosexuality.
