Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among, has vowed to engage President Museveni over the unfulfilled promises he made to the family of the late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, including the completion of his unfinished mansion.
During a courtesy visit to the Oulanyah family in Ayomlony village, Omoro district, on Tuesday, August 27, Among assured the family that she would follow up on the President’s pledges. The visit came ahead of the regional parliamentary sitting in Gulu City, scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
Oulanyah’s father, Mr. Nathan Okori, appealed to Speaker Among to expedite the completion of the unfinished building, reminding her of President Museveni’s earlier promise. “This house, as you can see, is left with final completion. I request the government to help me and complete it. In the past, President Museveni promised to do it,” Okori said.
Speaker Among acknowledged the family’s concerns and pledged to take up the matter with President Museveni. “I will engage the President to ensure that the promises he made to your family are fulfilled,” she assured the family.
The late Oulanyah, who served as Speaker of Parliament from 2021 until his death on March 20, 2022, left behind an unfinished mansion, a symbol of the unfulfilled promises made by the President. Speaker Among’s commitment to follow up on these promises brings hope to the Oulanyah family and the community.
The regional parliamentary sitting in Gulu City, starting on Wednesday, will provide an opportunity for Speaker Among to discuss the matter with President Museveni and other government officials, paving the way for the completion of Oulanyah’s unfinished mansion and the fulfillment of other outstanding promises.
