I am Not Prince Ssemakookiro’s Mother, How Vision Group Narrowly Escaped 13 Years Ago

Patience Barbara Kirabo has vehemently denied allegations published in state-owned newspapers claiming she is the mother of Prince Richard Ssemakookiro, the newborn son of Kabaka Ronald Mutebi.

Kirabo asserts that the publication of her photos alongside the false claims has severely damaged her reputation, strained her marital relationship, and caused emotional distress. She is now demanding a formal apology and Shs 500 million in compensation.

The Vision Group, a Ugandan media conglomerate, narrowly escaped a defamation lawsuit filed by the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Mutebi, over a story published about Patience Barbara Kirabo.

The court ruled in favor of the Vision Group after it was proven that the publication had issued a formal apology and retraction of the story, which had falsely linked Kirabo to the Kabaka.

The apology and retraction were deemed sufficient to mitigate any damages, thereby sparing the Vision Group from liability.
