Bobi Wine Sparks Controversy with “Courtesy Visit” to Ailing Kibalama
Ugandan politician and former musician Bobi Wine recently posted photos of his visit to Moses Nkonge Kibalama, who is reportedly battling illness.
However, insiders claim that the visit was not as genuine as it seemed. According to sources, Bobi Wine and his team, including party secretary-general David Lewis Rubongoya and deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, allegedly ambushed Kibalama’s home when the caretakers were away.
It is alleged that Edward Ssebuufu alias Eddie Mutwe climbed the fence to gain entry, allowing the group to sneak in. Rubongoya reportedly handed Kibalama 200,000 Uganda shillings, and the group quickly took photos before departing.
The incident has raised questions about the true nature of Bobi Wine’s visit and whether it was a genuine show of support or a publicity stunt.
Kibalama, the founder of NURP, claimed 19 billion shillings from the National Unity Platform (NUP) leaders, but they denied any such agreement. This dispute is part of a larger controversy surrounding Kibalama’s role in the NUP.
Kibalama had previously attempted to assert his claim to the NUP leadership, even opening parallel offices. However, his efforts were thwarted when the court ruled in favor of Robert Kyagulanyi’s (Bobi Wine) team, allowing them to proceed with their political ambitions under the NUP banner.
It appears that Kibalama’s claim of 19 billion shillings is connected to his disputed role in the NUP, but the exact nature of this claim remains unclear.
