Hon. Dr Kagabo Twaha Mzee the Member of Parliament representing Bukoto South in Lwengo District has revealed that the current top leadership woes that have daunted the National Unity Platform ( NUP), are solely orchestrated by the party’s top leadership, whom he has categorized as having a sloppy mindset.
In an interview with this website, Hon. Kagabo noted this is one of the main reasons why he has finally quit the leading opposition outfit in preference of the ruling National Resistance Movement Organization ( NRMO), during the final bend of the 11th parliament as the 2026 general elections beckon.
Hon Kagabo, on whether he crossed due to fear of tagging along a dying party said that ‘’ Nup is still a very grounded force to reckon with, but lacks insider conflict resolution mechanisms’’
He added that political migration is a crucial aspect of any society and that one must be able to move to attain success in life. ‘’ Leadership is all about changing the element of mindset for the betterment of the electorate. Always lamenting about how you are being suffocated just because you are in the opposition is being politically immature. Politics is not about who won but cohesion on how you can get services to the people ‘’ he quipped.
This concern is shared with many other once-top NUP leaders like the former Leader of Opposition, Buganda Vice President and now Commissioner Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba. Hon. Kagabo, also said that one of the greatest challenges of politicians is the promise of changing their voters’ lives and yet the broad objectivity of one joining leadership is to essentially first change their own lives.
He, however, took a swipe at those that claim that they bought their way into standing on the party ticket at millions of shillings during the last elections as mere hogwash and a bunch of lies.‘
’ I didn’t pay for the card or the party endorsement. I don’t understand those trading those gimmicks. I was zeroed on on merit’’ said Kagabo.
This is the first in a series of articles on the interview with Dr. Kagabo.
