From Allies to Enemies:  Dirty Secrets & Betrayal of Suubi Group Exposed

By TV10 Investigative Desk

The Suubi group, a formidable force in Ugandan politics, particularly in the Buganda region, has been plagued by internal conflicts and power struggles. At the heart of the matter lies the pursuit of political power and the desire to retain lucrative seats.

The group’s troubles began when some members, including prominent politicians like Medard Lubega Sseggona, Florence Namayanja, and Betty Nambooze, defected to the National Unity Platform (NUP) led by Bobi Wine. This move was seen as a strategic bid to align themselves with the popular opposition leader and boost their chances of re-election.

However, not all members of the Suubi group were on board with this decision. Some, like Moses Kasibante, disagreed with the results of the NUP’s vetting process and opted to run as independent candidates. This led to a rift within the group, with some members accusing others of being opportunistic and disloyal.

The Suubi group’s woes are further complicated by the complex web of alliances and rivalries within Ugandan politics. The group’s former members, now aligned with the NUP, face opposition from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, as well as from other opposition groups like the Democratic Party (DP).

At the center of the conflict is the struggle for power and influence in the Buganda region. The Suubi group’s former members, now with the NUP, are determined to retain their seats and expand their influence, while their opponents are equally determined to unseat them.

As the political landscape in Uganda continues to evolve, the Suubi group’s internal conflicts and power struggles serve as a reminder of the complex and often treacherous nature of politics in the country.

Kakomo was placed on Muwanga Kivumbi, Nannungi was placed on Mpuuga, while Walukagga was also empowered to unseat Medard.

The Suubi group within the National Unity Platform (NUP) reportedly received intel in 2022 that Bobi Wine and his faction were planning to take them down. This alleged plot involved assigning specific individuals to destabilize key Suubi group members, including:

Nambooze’s Downfall: George Musisi was supposedly tasked with taking down Betty Nambooze.

Muwanga Kivumbi’s Challenger: Kakomo was allegedly placed on Muwanga Kivumbi to undermine his position.

Mpuuga’s Opposition: Nannungi was reportedly tasked with taking down Mathias Mpuuga, who has been a key figure in NUP. Medard’s Rival: Walukagga was empowered to unseat Medard Lubega Sseggona.

These claims suggest a deep-seated power struggle within NUP, with Bobi Wine’s faction allegedly seeking to consolidate power by taking down rival group members. However, it’s essential to note that these allegations are not publicly confirmed, and the situation within NUP remains complex and multifaceted.

A high-stakes meeting was convened, attended by prominent figures Muwanga Kivumbi, Medard Lubega, Betty Nambooze, Mathias Mpuuga, Erias Lukwago, and Semujju Nganda. The common thread among them was their grievance against Bobi Wine, who they alleged was suppressing and attempting to sabotage their efforts.

Lukwago sounded the alarm, cautioning that if they didn’t take collective action, they would be in deep trouble. His sentiments were echoed by Nambooze and Nganda, who shared similar concerns about Bobi Wine’s intentions. The meeting highlighted the deep-seated tensions and power struggles within the group, with Kadingo’s actions sparking widespread discontent.

Following their meeting, the group assigned themselves roles to counter the perceived threat from Bobi Wine. Mathias Mpuuga took on the task of condemning Kadingo’s actions from within, which he diligently executed. Semujju Nganda also embarked on his assigned task.

However, in a shocking turn of events, some members of the group began to waver in their commitment. Despite their initial resolve, they lost their nerve and failed to follow through on their plans.

Moreover, a surprising conspiracy unfolded as Betty Nambooze and Muwanga Kivumbi turned against Mathias Mpuuga. This sudden betrayal was allegedly motivated by Robert Kyagulanyi’s identification of Mpuuga as a potential challenger. Nambooze and Muwanga’s actions not only undermined the group’s unity but also revealed the deep-seated rivalries and power struggles within.
