Nigerian Football Federation To Investigate Abubakar Lawal’s Death In Uganda

Abubakar Lawal, a 29-year-old Nigerian footballer, tragically passed away in Uganda. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear, with two conflicting reports. Initially, it was reported that Lawal died in a traffic accident, but the Ugandan Police later stated that he fell from the third floor of Voice Mall, where he was meeting his girlfriend, Naima Omary.

According to the police investigation, Lawal arrived at the mall in his silver Toyota Rumion to meet Naima, who had been residing in room 416 since February 2024. Naima claimed that she left Lawal in the room to buy some things, and shortly after, he fell from the balcony. He was rushed to Entebbe Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The contradicting reports have raised questions, and Super Eagles captain has called for the Nigerian government and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to investigate Lawal’s death. The Ugandan Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting interrogations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
