Man City Make Major Recall Decision on Right-back and Decide on Next Steps

Sports News

Manchester City is poised to intervene and bring an end to defender Issa Kabore’s disastrous loan spell at Benfica. The Burkina Faso international will return to the Etihad this month, with City officials already exploring alternative loan options for the second half of the season.

Kabore’s move to Benfica in the summer was meant to be a stepping stone in his career, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. Despite his initial enthusiasm, the right-back struggled to break into the team, making just seven appearances, with only two starts and a meager 11 minutes of league action.

The experience was a far cry from Kabore’s successful loan stint at Luton in the Premier League last season, where he played a regular role. City’s decision to recall Kabore and find him a new loan club suggests that they remain committed to his development, but do not currently see him as a viable option for Pep Guardiola’s first team.

With Kabore under contract until 2027, City will be keen to get his career back on track. The 22-year-old defender will likely be seeking a fresh start and a new opportunity to showcase his skills. As City weighs up its options, Kabore will be hoping that his next loan move will be a more successful one.
