Uganda’s Music Gangs: Government To Clamp Down on Music Gangs Promoting Violence

The Ugandan government has been taking a keen interest in the music industry, particularly the rising “music gangs” that have gained massive popularity among the youth.

In recent months, the government has been engaging with industry stakeholders to promote responsible content creation and address concerns around explicit lyrics, violence, and moral decay.

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has been working closely with musicians, producers, and promoters to ensure compliance with broadcasting regulations and guidelines.

Additionally, the government has initiated programs aimed at promoting positive values and behaviors through music, such as the “Tubonga Naawe” initiative, which encourages musicians to create content that promotes patriotism, unity, and social cohesion.

Overall, the government’s efforts aim to strike a balance between artistic freedom and social responsibility, ensuring that the music industry contributes positively to Uganda’s cultural and moral fabric.
