Prime Suspect of Ndiga clan head murder admits responsibility, demands release of 4 co-accused

Kampala October 3–Lugya Tabula, the prime suspect in the murder of Ndiga (Sheep) clan head, Engineer Daniel Bbosa, has asked the court to release his co-accused, claiming that they are “innocent” as he is the only one and his young nephew, Noah Lugya who planned and killed the Ndiga clan head.

Appearing before Grade One Magistrate, Adams Byarugaba, at Mwanga II court Thursday, Tabula again confessed to masterminding the murder and requested the court to release the four co-accused individuals saying he not comfortable being tried with people who know nothing about the murder. .

He stated that only he and his nephew, Noah Lujja, the man reported to have shot the Ndiga clan head, should be kept in custody.

The four suspects whom Tabula seeks to have released include Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabale, Ezra Mayanja, and Milly Naluwenda.

However, Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba said that the authority to decide on that matter lies with the High Court, and the suspect will be produced in the High Court in three weeks.

Tabula was arrested in August after evading arrest for months following the killing of the Ndiga clan head on February 25, 2024.

He confessed that he paid the two killers to help him exact revenge for the murder of his father, Israel Kalyesubula, in 1989. He accused the former clan head of being behind his father’s murder.

Tabula also accused him of selling Ndiga clan land in Mpigi district and further claimed to be the rightful Ndiga clan head.
