Museveni Keeps Magambo at CID Helm for 2 More Years

By Dean Lubowa Saava

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has renewed the contract of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Tom Magambo as Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) for another two years. This move underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening criminal investigations in Uganda, particularly in the face of growing concerns over organized crime, corruption, and high-profile investigations.

Magambo’s leadership at CID has earned him the President’s confidence, and his reappointment is seen as a vote of confidence in his efforts to modernize CID operations, strengthen forensic investigations, and promote intelligence-led policing. Under his tenure, CID has made significant strides in tackling major criminal syndicates, improving investigative efficiency, and focusing on digital forensics and evidence-based investigations.

Reacting to the contract renewal, Magambo expressed gratitude to President Museveni and reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing law enforcement capabilities, ensuring justice, and improving crime prevention strategies. With two more years at the helm of CID, Magambo is expected to continue his initiatives, reinforcing Uganda’s fight against corruption, cybercrime, and violent offenses.

This development is crucial in maintaining stability at CID, ensuring that ongoing investigations and reforms are not disrupted, and bolstering public trust in law enforcement.
