Court Issues Warrant of Arrest Against Accused in Pastor Kayanja Case

In a dramatic turn of events, the Mwanga 2 Magistrates Court issued a warrant of arrest against Moses Tumwine, also known as Small Pin, one of the nine individuals accused of falsely accusing Pastor Robert Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Centre Church of sodomy. The court’s decision came after Tumwine failed to appear in court for the third consecutive time without a valid reason.

The court, presided over by Senior Principal Magistrate Grade One Adams Byarugaba, was informed by Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya that despite being absent, Tumwine continued to instruct new lawyers to represent him. This move was seen as a delaying tactic, and the prosecution prayed for a warrant of arrest against Tumwine and his sureties.

Pastor Kayanja had testified in October 2024, alleging a conspiracy to frame him and linking one of the accused, Israel Wasswa, to Pastor Ssenyonga, a longtime rival. The pastor expressed frustration over repeated false accusations, citing previous cases in 2010 and 2013 where he was falsely accused of sodomy.

As the court proceedings unfolded, the magistrate emphasized that the court wouldn’t waste its time and resources on absconding accused individuals. The warrant of arrest was issued, and Tumwine’s sureties were summoned to explain why they shouldn’t forfeit the bail bond.

The case has sparked widespread interest, with many awaiting the outcome. Will justice be served, or will the accused find a way to evade accountability? The drama continues to unfold.
