STATE HOUSE: The Struggle for Power Within.

Those who are very keen with our Ugandan politics, you will agree with me that the preparation for the 2026 elections started as early as 2022. Since then, we have seen different political players fronting their 2026 intentions either directly or indirectly.

The case of study in this article is the first son (Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba) who declared his intentions as early as 2022 through his birthday fetes that were organised by his loyalties in the different parts of the country.

What started as birthday celebrations, ended up as political mobilisation tours, where we even saw different political actors declaring their un weaving support to the first son, incase he stands in the 2026 election as a contender for the presidential seat.

The first son himself has come out openly to show his interest in running for this presidency and he has been openly sharing his political intentions through his X- twitter account. In one of his tweets, he said that with his leadership, term limits on the position of the President will be enacted into law and that the seating president will not be allowed to go beyond two terms.

This proves you beyond reasonable doubt that the first son is purely interested in the presidential seat, but the jack pot question is whether his father is ready and willing to support the son in this presidential bid.

President Museveni’s Stand in This Power Struggle.

As a seating President, he still has an upper hand in deciding who will be the countries next president, but the chances of doing so, continue to diminish the longer he stays in power.

When it comes to backing up his son, the trust issues that come with his position (President) cannot technically allow him to 100% stand behind Kainerugaba because his long stay as the President of Uganda has been a collective effort of all the people, he has used to secure his position and those that are indirectly using him to protect and double their wealth.

The indisputable fact is that H.E Yoweri has never envisioned a life of himself when he is not the seating President of Uganda. What has ever crossed his mind is being the territorial President of all East African countries. This will automatically make it hard for him to step aside for any one including his son, before realising his vision of being the East African President.

If you are very familiar with Kaguta’s political moves, you can now tell that all the activities the Muhoozi team is doing, Museveni has a hand in them, though his intentions were different from what his son is currently pursuing.

The more than 50 NRM members of parliament that participated in the launch of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) cannot associate with any person contesting the Presidency of their chairman (Museveni) without his approval because they are very well aware of what he is capable of doing to anyone trying to take the presidentship out of his hands.

To him (Museveni), his son is supposed to be either a destruction or an alternative for him to gauge his current support among young people and to those who might not be in agreement with him, but it seems his son and the people around him have unknowingly superseded his (Museveni) plans and they seriously want to take up the big man’s seat come 2026.

2026 In Bold Letters.

The chances of the opposition winning the presidency come 2026 are totally diminishing through their disorganisation, greed, position fights and disunity, yet Museveni is busy widening his divide and rule master plan, with an end objective of coming up as the saviour to consolidate what he antagonised.
