POLITICS:Why Buganda May Not Win in Politics.

It may be difficult for anyone from Buganda region to win the presidential Elections and this is because they lost their chances some time back.

The weakness of Buganda started in 1900 when the leaders successfully signed the Buganda agreement with the Europeans which made them lose their property such as land and army.

Zakaria Kyisingyiri,Starnlours Mugwanya and sir Apollo Kagwa are the people that determined where Buganda is now.

These are the people that collided with the British and signed the Buganda agreement so that they could chase the youngest kabaka Daudi Chwa for their personal reasons.
After the arrival of the British, the three were promised to be provided with guns ,shoes and many others of which made these greedy men jump into it praising the British.

As the British were coming, they found Buganda as a very good , self-contained and a rich kingdom with land and some other property of which they were interested in.

The Katikiiro and the king in power by then had all the powers to reject the signing but due to their ignorance they accepted and signed.

A case in point in the 2021 elections, most people in Buganda voted in favor of their son Kyagulanyi  and he performed very well in Central region than in any other regions.

This is because after the Europeans had left, the Baganda felt comfortable and felt firm not knowing that they had lost their sovereignty to the British.

Buganda’s sovereignty now remains in their anthem; Ekyitibwa Kya Uganda.

There is no way how a person without their own army ,can oppose an establishment that has owns all the military powers of a country in their hands.
The current president clearly knows how greedy the Baganda are, and that is why he always uses their weaknesses to his advantage.
The country is now controlled by only one person because very many people respect and fear that dictator because of the army he openly procliams that it is his.

“Before we bring powers of this country back to the citizens we should first know who should own the army. Is it the president or the citizens?”

Due to the fact that the Baganda l don’t have control over the army, their journey towards winning the countries President-ship is still a long one.
