Botanically speaking ginger is a vegetable; Its a root vegetable, and the root is called a rhizome. Other rhizomes include turmeric, galangal, and lotus. The confusion a bout what ginger actually  probably comes from its culinary definition, where it is known as a spice and not a root vegetable.

Ginger can be used to improve blood sugar levels, ginger contains a parent compound called gingerol, reduces inflammation. Ginger can also help to ease joint pain and inflammation caused by arthritis, relieve pain, strengthens the immune system and treat Nausea and indigestion.

It helps to speed up digestion process and empty your stomach more quickly. some one with digestive issues, such as indigestion, ulcers, constipation and IBS, might find relief by adding into their regular diet. Studies have shown that those who consume ginger digest twice as fast as those who don’t.

If you have ever had ginger tea to settle an upset stomach, you already know that ginger can help with nausea and digestive problems. But to get   the largest a mount of  health benefits from ginger, you should be consuming it raw.
