President Museveni and First Lady Celebrate Women’s Day in Kyankwanzi

Uganda is marking its 30th International Women’s Day celebrations, a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards gender equality and women’s empowerment. President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have arrived at Butemba College playground in Kyankwanzi District to preside over the celebrations.

This year’s celebrations are a testament to the progress made towards advancing women’s rights and opportunities in Uganda. Over the past three decades, Uganda has made significant strides in promoting gender equality, including the enactment of laws and policies that support women’s empowerment.

The theme of this year’s celebrations is a call to action for all Ugandans to work together towards achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls. The event is expected to bring together women leaders, activists, and stakeholders from across the country to reflect on the progress made and the challenges that still exist.

President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni’s presence at the celebrations underscores the government’s commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. The First Lady, in particular, has been a strong advocate for women’s education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
