The Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua, has called for an urgent National Resistance Movement (NRM) party parliamentary caucus special session this Friday at State House, Entebbe.
Obua issued the notice to all NRM Members of Parliament on Friday, notifying them of the meeting.
“Notice is hereby given for a Special Meeting of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus, scheduled for Friday, 14th March 2025, at 12:00 pm at State House – Entebbe,” part of the notice reads.
As a precautionary measure, all legislators attending the meeting are required to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test.
“All Members are required to undertake a COVID-19 test at the Parliamentary Conference Hall B, Parliamentary Building, from Wednesday, 12th March (11:00 am – 6:00 pm) to Thursday, 13th March 2025 (8:00 am – 5:00 pm),” the notice continued.
While the agenda for the urgent meeting has not been disclosed, it is worth noting that the NRM caucus’s previous session on 21st February 2025 discussed the Supreme Court’s contentious ruling, which halted the trial of civilians in military courts. The meeting at State House Entebbe resolved to amend the UPDF law, giving the General Court Martial the authority to try civilians found in possession of specific firearms.
