Life and Legacy of Rajiv Ruparelia

The tragic death of Rajiv Ruparelia, Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group, has left a profound void in Uganda’s business and philanthropic communities. But beyond the headlines lies the story of a vibrant, driven man who left an indelible mark on many sectors of Ugandan life.

Born on January 2, 1990, Rajiv was the only son of business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia. He studied in the UK, graduating in Financial Management from Regent’s University London, before returning to Uganda in 2014 to join the family business.

By 2017, Rajiv had been appointed Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group, overseeing landmark projects such as Speke Apartments, Kampala Boulevard, and Kingdom Kampala.

But Rajiv’s ambitions stretched beyond boardrooms. A passionate motorsport enthusiast, he founded the Rajiv Ruparelia Rally Team, helping revive interest in rally racing across Uganda. His youthful charisma and fearless attitude made him a fan favorite on and off the track.

Rajiv also carried his influence into humanitarian work. Through the Ruparelia Foundation, he championed education, healthcare, and environmental initiatives, always aiming to uplift underserved communities.

He is survived by his wife Naiya and their children.

Tributes have poured in from all corners of the country, with many remembering Rajiv as “a visionary, a kind soul, and a generational leader.”

“Rest in eternal peace, dear brother. May Allah grant you paradise,” said close friend Sulaiman Bukenya.

Rajiv Ruparelia’s legacy—of ambition, generosity, and heart—will not be forgotten.
