Kyabazinga of Busoga Celebrates Yale Degree with Tribute to Wife

The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope, celebrated a significant academic milestone on May 19, 2025, graduating from Yale University’s Jackson School of Global Affairs with a Master of Advanced Studies in Global Affairs.

“My beloved wife Jovia, Inhebantu of Busoga, your love anchors me, and your strength shields me. Through late nights, distant days, and quiet sacrifices, you stood by me with grace and patience,” he wrote.

This accomplishment marks the Kyabazinga’s second master’s degree, having previously earned an MBA from Coventry University in the United Kingdom. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Portsmouth, reinforcing his commitment to academic excellence and serving as a role model for young Ugandans.

The Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs, located in New Haven, Connecticut, was founded in 2010 and is known for preparing students for global leadership and equipping them with the skills to address international challenges.

Born on November 1, 1988, Gabula Nadiope ascended to the throne as the fourth Kyabazinga of Busoga on August 23, 2014, following his selection by the ten royal chiefs of the Busoga Kingdom.

Raised in Jinja by his maternal grandmother, he began his education at Victoria Nile and Winston Day and Boarding Primary School in Kawempe, and later joined Lohana Academy. His secondary education included Busoga College Mwiri (O-Level) and Kyambogo College School (A-Level). He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Kyambogo University.

Kyabazinga Gabula Nadiope comes from a distinguished lineage of leadership. His father, Wilson Gabula Nadiope III, was Uganda’s Minister of Tourism, while his grandfather, William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope II, served as Kyabazinga and was also Uganda’s first Vice President.

The Kyabazinga’s academic journey underscores a broader message about perseverance, leadership, and the role of education in nation-building. His pursuit of advanced education while serving in a traditional royal role reflects a progressive blend of heritage and modern leadership.
