Menton Summer: A Musical Legacy Born of Military Heritage

Menton Summer, a trailblazing Ugandan musician, left an indelible mark on the country’s music scene. His influence can be seen in the careers of notable artists, including Jose Chameleon, who emerged during the same era as Baguma, aka Shanks Vividee Gumerous.

A renowned Ugandan musician, was born into a family of distinction. His father, Lt Col Nkwanga Kamya a brother to Betty Olive Namisango Kamya, the current Inspector General of Government (IGG) of Uganda.

A Pioneer of Ugandan Music

In the 1990s, Menton Summer was at the forefront of Uganda’s burgeoning music industry. He competed with other legendary figures, including:

  • Dj Alex Ndawula (now late)
  • Rasta Rob Mc

Menton Summer’s unique style and mentorship played a significant role in shaping the sound of Ugandan music.

Mentorship and Legacy

One notable artist who benefited from Menton Summer’s guidance was Emperor Orlando, whose real name is Ssozi Ben. This decision, although unconventional, ultimately contributed to Orlando’s success in the music industry.
