Currently residing in the United States after relocating in December for improved medical care, Chameleone’s health journey began earlier that month when he was rushed to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala due to severe abdominal pain.
Upon evaluation, doctors diagnosed him with acute pancreatitis, a condition often associated with heavy alcohol consumption. The medical team recommended urgent, specialized treatment to prevent any complications, prompting the decision for immediate care.
Despite being admitted to Nakasero Hospital for 11 days, Chameleone’s condition remained concerning. His medical team advised him to seek more advanced treatment abroad, leading to his discharge on December 23, 2024. Shortly afterward, he arranged to travel to the U.S. for further treatment.
Juliet Zawedde, a Ugandan businesswoman and socialite, kindly supported Chameleone’s treatment and travel expenses, ensuring his medical journey to the United States was smooth. Once in the U.S., he was admitted to Allina Health Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, where he’s been receiving specialized care.
Accompanied by his brother and fellow musician Weasel Manizo, Chameleone has found comfort in family support during this trying time. Although he’s far from home, he has remained closely connected with his fans and the Ugandan music community.
In a recent interview on NTV’s “The Beat” show on January 3, 2025, Chameleone expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support he’s received and assured his followers that he’s committed to overcoming these health challenges. He shared his optimism about returning to the music scene, inspired by his time in recovery to reflect on his career and plan for future projects.
As he prepares for the surgery, fans and well-wishers around the globe are sending their prayers, hoping for a successful procedure and a quick recovery for the iconic artist.
