Hadijah Namale was born in 1947, a time when child marriage was a rampant practice in many parts of the world. At the tender age of 13, she was forced into a marriage with a polygamous man, a traumatic experience that would have a lasting impact on her life.

Fortunately, Hadijah’s brother recognized the harm that child marriage was causing her and decided to take action. He rescued her from the marriage and took her to Kisangani, where she found refuge with a Congolese friend.

In Kisangani, Hadijah began working as a house help, a new beginning that marked the start of her journey towards healing and rebuilding her life. Despite the challenges she faced, Hadijah’s determination and resilience enabled her to overcome the trauma of her past and forge a new path. Her stars shone bright in the early 1960s late 1970s, her music lyrics are still enjoyed by both the young and old.
