Our Internet Passwords Are At Risky.

If you think your’e good in creating strong passwords, this new technology is unbeatable .

It has been discovered that a clever guessing algorithm can crack 87 million passwords in less than 60 seconds.

New study reveals how easily passwords can be cracked a lot faster than you would think. A recent investigation by the Kaspersky experts shows that of the 193 million real passwords, 59% could be cracked in under 60 minutes, and 45% in under 60 seconds.

How Smart Guessing Algorithm Works?

They are trained using a password data set to determine the probability of different character combinations. They then prioritise choosing the most frequent combinations before moving on to the rarest ones.

Since most passwords that are used on a daily basis include similar elements, such as dates, names, dictionary terms, and keyboard sequences, adding these to the guessing game mixture makes it go much faster.

Why things got easy to crack the passwords with this technology?

Humans are terrible at creating passwords because we are creatures of habit. The truth is that we rarely, if ever, choose truly random passwords for ourselves. We depend on everything that sophisticated guessing algorithms are meant to identify, including well-known names and phrases, significant historical and personal dates, and patterns—lots of patterns.

Now what Smart algorithms does, it make short work of most passwords that contain dictionary sequences and they catch character substitutions.

How to Protect Your Accounts From Attacks by Smart-Guessing Algorithms?

These are following recommended password usage strategies;

  1. Make use of a password manager to create secure, unique passwords.

2. Don’t use the same passwords across several websites and services as this can lead to numerous more eggs being unlocked during a single hacking effort.

3. Consider using mnemonic pass-phrases instead of dictionary terms and numeric combinations if you are unable or unable to utilise a password manager.

4. Don’t store passwords in online browsers.

5. Use a password manager with a master password that is very strong.

6. Use two-factor authentication.If your account supports it.
