CAF Clears Namboole To Host Cranes World Cup Qualifiers Ahead Of 2027 AFCON

Africa’s football governing body – CAF has finally cleared Uganda’s Mandela National Stadium, alias Namboole to host international matches starting with the upcoming 2026 World Cup Qualifiers for the Uganda Cranes.

A statement from FUFA on Monday 13th, May confirmed the development bringing excitement to soccer lovers in the East African country. “CAF has granted FUFA permission to host International Matches at Mandela National Stadium (Namboole),” FUFA’s statement read.

“This therefore implies that Uganda Cranes will host the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier matches against Botswana and Algeria in June at Namboole,” it added.

This milestone decision means the Uganda Cranes will now have the opportunity to play their home games in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria at their preferred venue

After months of intense renovation and inspection, CAF has granted the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) permission to host international matches at the historic stadium. 

The clearance comes just in time for the crucial World Cup Qualifiers, with the Cranes set to face Botswana on June 3rd and Algeria on June 10th. The team will be looking to capitalize on home advantage as they bid to secure a spot in the prestigious tournament.

The Uganda Cranes have been working tirelessly to prepare for the qualifiers, and the news is a welcome boost to their preparations. With the stadium now cleared to host international matches, Ugandan football fans can look forward to an electrifying atmosphere at Namboole as the Cranes take on Botswana and Algeria in June.
