Another concerned citizen has taken the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among and the four Parliamentary Commissioners led by Mathius Mpuuga, to court over the Service Award.
The concerned Ugandan, Daniel Bwete, joins renowned Kampala lawyer, Male Mabirizi, to run to court over the shillings 1.7b/- public funds shared among the four Parliamentary Commissioners as Service Award.
This concerned Ugandan, Daniel Bwete, filed the case, today May 27th 2024 at the Civil Division of the High Court seeking a declaration that the Service Award as an act of illegality, ultravires, oppressive, arbitrary.
He is also seeking court to declare the decision of creating and awarding payment in the names of a Service Award, is a direct abuse of administrative powers. The Parliamentary Commission has been given 3 days to respond, the case will be mentioned again on the 8th next month, June 2024.
Earlier last week, renowned Kampala lawyer, Male Mabiriizi, filed a case No. 7 of 2024 in the Anti Corruption court against the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, the Parliamentary Commissioners, Mathius Mpuuga, Selwany Solomon, Pross Mbabazi Akampulira and Ester Afoyocan, on ten counts of money laundering, theft, getting money in false pretence and fraud among others. He is waiting for court to allocate the date.
It is alleged that on May 6th 2022, the four in a meeting chaired by speaker Anita Among, decided to create a Service Award of shillings 1.7billion from the public confers which was shared among the four commissioners with Mathius Mpuuga pocketing shs. 500m/- and other Commissioners each went with shs. 400m.
