The Naguru-based NBS TV officially parted ways with its ace anchor, Zambali Bulasio Mukasa, on Friday.
In a departure from the usual fanfare afforded to valued staff members at the station, Zambali reportedly received a surprise farewell, with a social media message simply stating, “NEXT MEDIA: Farewell Zambali Bulasio Mukasa.

Your contributions to Next Media have been tremendous. It was a pleasure working with you.
In a stark contrast to the usual fanfare, Zambali’s departure from the station was marked with a simple social media post, unlike the elaborate exit of co-founder Joe Kigozi.
Zambali, the indefatigable news anchor and host of the ‘Barometer’ show, was surprisingly forced to resign, with many at the station perceiving it as a self-inflicted departure.
Zambali Bulasio Mukasa, a prominent Ugandan news anchor and host of the ‘Barometer’ show, was suspended from NBS TV after publicly declaring his affiliation with the National Unity Platform (NUP) and supporting its principal, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine. He expressed his support at an NUP rally in Kawempe, stating, “In times like these, I cannot remain neutral”.
This move was seen as a violation of NBS TV’s editorial policies, which emphasize non-partisanship. The station’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Desire Derekford Mugumisa, explained that employees pursuing political office must step away from active roles.
Mukasa’s suspension has sparked discussions about media personalities engaging in politics. His future at NBS TV remains uncertain, but he’s reportedly focused on his political aspirations, including a potential bid for the Nansana Municipality MP seat under the NUP banner
