Speaker Among, Parl. Commissioners On Exit, M7 Orders Probe.

Parliament Speaker Anita Among, the Parliamentary commissioners, are facing exit from parliament and are likely to becharged in court for abuse of office and corruption and other charges that will be preferred on them.

The twist of events arises from the boot of Shs. 1,700,000,000/- the Parliamentary commissioners shared as “A Service Award.”

In a letter to the Attorney General, president Museveni asked him if he was aware of the public concern debate going on the issue and what action did he take.

Museveni recalled that while in the bush fighting the Obote and Amin regimes, they used to call such sharing of public funds by officials in government “primitive accumulation of wealth” adding that such a thing to happen in his government is contrary to the revolutionary principles of the NRM. Museveni wondered what special services did they offer.

Museveni asked the Attorney General, to explain to him the legality of these awards, who approved them, aren’t they violate the leadership code or the anti corruption act. He directed the CID, IGG, DPP and even the NRM Parliamentary caucus to swing into action and investigate the matter and take necessary action.

It can be recalled the speaker Among chaired a commissioners meeting meeting that decided on the sharing of the money as Service awards for the commissioners of which Mathias Mpuuga got shs. 500m.

President Museveni reaction comes at a time when the U.K government has put sanctions on Anita Among over corruption and UAE has freezed her assets.
