Somalia Wants UN To End It’s Political Mission

Somalia has formally requested the United Nations to end its political mission in the country due to strategic priorities in combating ongoing attacks by al-Shabab. Despite acknowledging its contributions, Somalia seeks to transition to a long-term development partnership with the UN. This request comes at a time of increasing al-Shabab attacks.
