Mugisha Geoffrey, popularly known as Kempaka.11, has been arrested and charged with spreading hate speech. He was apprehended after appearing in a video clip insulting the Baganda people, claiming they were foolish for occupying land that wasn’t theirs. He was subsequently arraigned before the Buganda Road Court and remanded to Luzira Prison.
In court, Kempaka, who claims to be a Rwandan, defiantly told the prosecution that they couldn’t do anything to him. The prosecution, however, presented their case without written statements.
The story highlights the ongoing tensions and conflicts surrounding land ownership and identity in the region. It also raises questions about the limits of free speech and the role of the law in regulating hate speech.
