Kawempe North MP-elect Seeks Explanation for Delayed Gazetting

JUST IN: Elias Nalukoola, the newly elected MP for Kawempe North, is seeking answers from the Electoral Commission in Kampala. Despite winning the by-election nearly two weeks ago with a landslide 17,764 votes, Nalukoola’s victory has yet to be gazetted.

Accompanied by National Unity Platform secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya and party lawyer George Musisi, Nalukoola is pushing for an explanation from the Electoral Commission. This delay has raised concerns, especially considering Nalukoola’s decisive victory in the by-election, which was held to fill the seat left vacant by the passing of former MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.
