Kabaka’s 102-Year-Old Maternal Aunt, Nalinya Josephina Nabisaalu, Passes On: Body Held at Kisubi Hospital Over Unpaid 3.3M Bill

We have reliably learned that the body of Nalinya Josephina Nabisaalu, a 102-year-old woman, has been detained at Kisubi Hospital, located off Entebbe Road, due to an outstanding medical bill of 3.3 million shillings.

A senior official from the Buganda Kingdom, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the last surviving aunt of Kabaka Ronald Mutebi passed away on Monday evening due to natural causes. This news comes as a significant event in the kingdom, given the aunt’s close relation to the Kabaka. Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II is the 36th Kabaka of Buganda, a position he has held since his coronation on July 31, 1993.

“In a statement issued by Omumbejja Ndagire Tajjoba, the late Nalinya Josephina Nabisaalu Omunakulya was eulogized as a remarkable individual, born on January 1, 1923, and having served as the Rubuga for over six decades, until her passing at the age of 101.”

Omumbejja Ndagire Tajjoba has expressed her deep concern and disappointment over the life and legacy of the late Nalinya Josephina Nabisaalu. In a recorded voice note, she revealed that Nalinya, a former owner of the vast Masanafu land parcel, had played a vital role in safeguarding the kingdom throne until the installation of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

Omumbejja Tajjoba lamented that despite Nalinya’s remarkable life and contributions to the kingdom, Katikkiro Peter Mayiga and other top kingdom officials have remained eerily silent about her passing.

Furthermore, she expressed outrage that these officials are now ignoring the fact that Nalinya’s body should be laid to rest at the revered Kasubi Tombs, a site reserved for members of the royal family and other distinguished individuals.
