“I Have Already Prepared My Response To Museveni’s SONA, But We Will Not Attend….” LOP

The Leader of Opposition and a section of some members of the opposition, have announced their plans to boycott the State of The Nation Address that is slated for Thursday this week and the budget reading next week.

While giving their reasons for choosing not to attend, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi said that SONA has now turned out to be a mockery to Ugandans, since it doesn’t address our country’s biggest problems like corruption, service delivery and human rights violations.

” I have already prepared my response to the state of the nation address because within our rules of procedure, the LOP is meant to respond to the SONA,” he said..

“Importantly it us saying that the people of Uganda are tired of the ritual, they want substance. And we as their their representatives, we don’t want to accompany you,” he added.

Hon. Ssenyonyi also expressed their concerns on the planned regional seatings of parliament siting that the proposed seatings have financial implication on the country and the commission had not sat to approve them.
