The newly constructed market is expected to be officially opened soon by the president of Uganda General Yoweri Museveni.

The Kampala Resident City Commissioner Jane Muhindo has applauded efforts to relocate traders from the streets around Busega Roundabout to the newly constructed Busega Market.

Muhindo made the remarks during the official grand opening of the Busega Market, an event attended by several Kampala officials and political leaders, who celebrated the achievement.

The commissioner highlighted that the market was handed over to Kampala authorities in 2021 but noted that there have been some misunderstandings among leaders and those responsible for managing the market.

Some traders have been seen breaking the padlocks on stalls, which were placed by market authorities, claiming that some of them would miss out if they waited for their names to be read.

All traders previously operating along Busega Roundabout, including fishmongers, were ordered to relocate to the new market.

While many traders have complied, others opposed the move due to personal interests.

Traders arriving in the morning to set up their stalls found that some of the spaces they had reserved were already occupied by fellow traders who had already relocated.

It’s alleged that previously the so called boodabooda 2010 head by Kitata group members were considered first to occupy the stalls in the new constructed market building.

Since the boodabooda 2010 group members scattered when their leader (Kitata) was arrested, he came back and reorganize them.

It is also said that since the boda boda 2010 group members have been jobless, they occupying the stalls in the said market on influence of their former boss.

Hajjati Minsa Kabanda conspiracy with Abdala Kitata is based on Muslim brotherhood and  national resistance movement ( NRM) political party.

The source told us (TV10 Gano Mazima ) that Kabanda received a directive from his boss the president of Uganda to deal with Abdallah Kitatta on issues of Busega market.
