President Museveni Begins Three-Day Visit to Egypt to Deepen Bilateral Ties

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is in Cairo, Egypt, for a three-day working visit aimed at strengthening ties between Uganda and Egypt. He arrived this afternoon at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Touching down at Cairo International Airport, President Museveni was received by Dr. Hani Sewilam, Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation. Welcoming him on behalf of Uganda were State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Okello Oryem and Lt. Gen. Charles Angina, Uganda’s Deputy Ambassador to Egypt.

The visit is packed with key engagements. Over the next two days, Presidents Museveni and El-Sisi are expected to hold high-level talks focused on enhancing cooperation across various sectors. They will also oversee the signing of bilateral agreements, hold a joint press briefing, and attend a business forum designed to open up new opportunities in trade, investment, and development for both countries.

Before departing Uganda, President Museveni was officially seen off at Entebbe International Airport by a delegation of top officials. Among them were the Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, UPDF Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Charles Okidi, Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. James Ochaya, and Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons Mr. Samuel Akena.

The visit signals Uganda’s continued commitment to building strong international partnerships, with Egypt standing out as a key ally in regional development and diplomacy.
