Piglets Dumped at DP Offices in Protest Targeting Electoral Commission

In a bizarre and unsettling incident this morning, several piglets were found dumped outside the Democratic Party (DP) offices on Balintuma Road, wrapped in a banner reading “Byabakama Wake Up.”

The animals were discovered by DP staff as they arrived for work, sparking confusion and concern. The protest appears to be a symbolic attack on Justice Simon Byabakama, head of the Electoral Commission, with many interpreting the act as a statement about corruption, inaction, or political dissatisfaction ahead of the 2026 elections.

No group has claimed responsibility, but the move has stirred up online debate and public outrage.

DP leadership quickly condemned the act, calling it both cruel and irresponsible. “There are better ways to express frustration. This isn’t one of them,” said DP spokesperson Paul Ssembajjwe.

Police are investigating the incident, reviewing CCTV footage and treating it as a case of animal cruelty and public disturbance.

As Uganda inches closer to elections, the strange protest highlights the rising tension and demand for accountability in the country’s political space.
